It is a bitter-sweet time at Run The Edge as we get ready to say “Goodbye” to Mimi Otto. Mimi has been with us for over 4 years as our social media and content manager but will be leaving us, and the country, in pursuit of a graduate degree in the UK. She is still finalizing her studies but she will be focusing on a degree in either General Linguistics, Welsh or English Literature, or Medieval studies. Anyone who knows Mimi knows she is already an absolute literary wiz and would not be surprised by this choice for the next chapter of her life. The entire team at Run The Edge will miss her greatly and wish her all the best!
Mimi started at Run The Edge before she even finished her last semester at the University of Colorado. During her interviews, she made it clear that she was “not a runner.” We assured her that running was not a requirement, but that she should be careful or she might catch the bug. It wasn’t long before she did her first 5K and then started doing multiple half marathons each year. She somehow integrated the new running habit into her already avid rock climbing and snowboarding activities, so when she would encourage our community to “Make fitness a habit” Mimi was already serving as an excellent role model.
As the “token Millennial” on our team (as Mimi would often say!), Mimi kept the rest of us young at heart and a little better informed on the latest trends, music, and lingo. Her passion for literature, international cultures, and languages were contagious as she shared her experience with us on a daily basis.
In her time at Run The Edge, Mimi has posted thousands of updates, memes, quotes, and stories to our social media channels. She has shipped thousands of packages to our customers waiting for their shirts and medals. She has answered thousands of emails to help get participants logged in and answer questions. She has done a thousand other jobs both large and small in the last four years, but most importantly she has given each of us a thousand smiles and memories we will treasure. Spend a few minutes with us and watch this video farewell we’ve created to look back on our time together:
And so it is with great appreciation, and a bit of sadness, that we wish Mimi all the best in her new adventures. Please join us in offering Mimi Otto a fond farewell with a thousand “Thank yous” and a thousand “Goodbyes.”
Bon Voyage Mimi!! We will MISS YOU!!
